About Veterans Cricket India
We are group of ex-first class and professional league cricketers, who have taken upon themselves the responsibility of developing competitive cricket for veterans in India and Overseas Citizens of India. Our organisation, Veterans Cricket India Foundation, is a registered non-profit organization, and our aim is to raise awareness and put a structure in place where veteran cricketers can carry on enjoying competitive cricket and take part in future veterans tournaments in India and around the world.
Apart from helping put together a team for the 2020 Over50s World-Cup, we also fielded a Over50s team at the Marlborough Cup held in England in 2021 (featuring Wales & England)
As part of our continued efforts, we are organizing an inter-zonal Over50s Tournament to be held in Chennai in Jan 2022 which will feature teams from East, West, Central, South & North Zones along with International Indians.
We hope to be an active participant in future international tournaments in 2022 leading to the Over50s World-cup to be held in South Africa in November 2022.
Over50s World Cup
In 2018, the first ever Cricket world cup for 50+ was organised in Sydney Australia. The organising committee invited all cricket playing nations and there were 8 teams who responded and participated; However, there was no participation from India.
To avoid a similar situation for the 2020 World-Cup, a group of cricket enthusiasts of Indian origin based outside India took interest and decided to enter a team for the tournament. They tracked Indians who are playing active competitive cricket around the world and held a selection trial in Mumbai in December 2019.
The selected players travelled to Cape, Town, South Africa to participate in the World-Cup. Unfortunately, the tournament got postponed after couple of matches due to COVID19. All the information about over 50s world cup is available on website https://www.over50scricket.com/
